Summer fun has begun!
And our beautiful community is gearing up to bring you live music, art, outdoor festivals, and more entertainment than you can shake a stick at! And what better way to kick off summer and all that it promises than by joining in the “Be A Home Town Tourist” Weekend, June 9-10. This is the second year of the campaign that encourages you to discover what’s in your backyard.
We are grateful to all the participants who took the time to put together specials, events and activities and the support of the business community, the Town of Ladysmith, our local Chamber of Commerce and other groups and individuals that help spread the word near and far. Check out all the activities including kayaking, golfing, swimming and guided walks and open houses on pages 25-33. You can also check for latest updates at take5.ca/hometowntourist
It’s good to see that Ladysmith and area are embracing tourism and the economic benefits it brings. Two new additions that have planted us firmly on the “must stop” map is the opening of the newLadysmithMuseumand the Ladysmith Maritime Society’s gorgeous floating Reception Centre. The LMS is a leader in promoting this area to not only the boating community but the general public. The 2012 Maritime Festival drew in locals and visitors to have some nautical fun. From bouncy castles to beer gardens this is a first class event that keeps getting better. Well done! Thanks to all the volunteers who make it happen, and thanks to all the participants for attending. After all – it’s all done for you!
Looking for more summer fun ideas? Pick up the official Ladysmith with Cedar & Chemainus Vacation Guide at your local Visitor Centre. After all, there’s no reason that fun shouldn’t be year round.
Happy Father’s Day!
