Water Park at Transfer Beach Park

Transfer Beach Park, located across the highway from City Hall, is one of the most popular spots in this area. With its grassy slopes and shady trees it’s an ideal place for a family picnic. Facilities include a spray park, playgrounds, concession, public washrooms, basketball court, sand volleyball, horseshoe pitch, picnic shelter and kayak rentals. Guided kayak tours are available or you can explore the islands on your own. You can lounge under the willow trees or swim in the some of the warmest water north of San Francisco. The park is home to Vancouver Island’s only beachfront amphitheatre which hosts weddings, special events, and during the summer weekly music concerts. Transfer Beach offers an off-leash dog park. Another great place for a picnic is the Ladysmith Arboretum. The arboretum features a variety of mature and newly planted trees, many of which have been imported from other countries.

Went here today from out of town. Not pleased when I tried to walk a dog on the beach a local rudely informed me that there are no dogs allowed on the beach. There are no signs that state this. One sign says “no parking” the other sign says “no dogs on playground or playing field”. There is no sign to say dogs can’t go on the beach. He then directed me to the off leash dog area after I had told him my dog can’t go off his leash. Poor reception from a local resident. More signage is needed in this park. Won’t be recommending this park to our air b and b guests.

So you won’t recommend a great park because someone told you to get your dog off the beach? Sounds like a bad case of sour grapes
