If I remember anything from my mornings in January, February and March at TAKE 5 Newsmagazine, it will be the wide smile and heart-warming greetings from Nadine Wong as I stepped into the office.

It is said people remember not what was said to them over the years, but how they treated you.  As Nadine announced her well-deserved ‘retirement’ from three years of sales and marketing at the magazine in March, I felt a tinge of nostalgia.

Our cover story this month is on a remarkable restoration of a Deuce coupe and a pickup truck by local car enthusiast Fred Bell. There are so many events happening — Ladysmith Celebration Days, Arts on the Avenue, Petunia & the Vipers concert in Cedar, and the Cowichan Craft Beer and Food Festival in Chemainus. A big shout-out to all the volunteers who put on these events. It’s truly an Awesome August.
