For 13 years, TAKE 5 has spearheaded the Be a Hometown Tourist campaign, working with local businesses and community groups to bring you events and specials to encourage residents to discover why visitors love it here. It’s not surprising, when you consider charming downtowns, small shops, great markets, lovely parks, and a fantastic coastline. We have friendly folk who give their time to make things happen, along with specials such as golfing and kayaking.
The best thing about being with TAKE 5 is meeting the people in our communities.
Their support keeps us going each month, ensuring our community has a local and independent voice. We may not always agree with the views expressed in these pages, but we will secure their right to be there.
You may have noticed this TAKE 5 looks a little different. That is because this is our annual “green theme” edition where along with our regular coverage, we showcase stories and news in celebration of World Earth Day on April 22.

Welcome to the February issue – a month known for love, and a month where the resolutions made at the start of January start to wane. I stopped making resolutions to myself and switched to “suggestions”. It’s kinder and we all need to be more of that – especially to ourselves.

I think August may be my favourite month. There are still lots of summer days left to enjoy while the whole community is active with events, outdoor festivals, concerts, and visitors admiring our piece of paradise.
