As everyone feels the pinch of this economy, and news is dire, we thought this September issue should celebrate our local business community — the people who show up for us every day. You’ll find stories and news with a bit of a business twist. We also visit a beloved business that has stood the test of time, Little Valley Collision, now in its 46th year. We will be bringing you more good news business stories in the coming issues because we are stronger together, and that means looking out for, and supporting our neighbourhood local businesses.

This month builds toward the season's undisputed showstopper: the Ladysmith Show ‘N Shine. Every single year, the organizers manage to outdo themselves, and this year is no exception. From the gleaming rows of classic cars to the crowds that pack the downtown core, it's become one of those events that captures exactly what makes this community special

While there is no shortage of things to do in our slice of Island paradise, summer around here is all about the music. Live outdoor concerts and festivals are where it's at, with parks, waterfronts, and open-air stages coming alive with incredible local and visiting artists. From rock and blues to folk and everything in between, there's a scene for everyone. There's so much talent at every venue!

This edition of Take 5 marks a very special milestone — we’re celebrating our 29th anniversary! It’s hard to believe that what started as a small community publication has grown into the trusted local voice it is today. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
