Ladysmith’s Heritage Downtown

The theme for BC Heritage Week 2015 is Main Street: At The Heart of the Community.

Main Street - downtown

Downtowns are at the heart of communities big and small.  Ladysmith’s downtown embodies the history and evolution of our community. This Heritage Week we are celebrating the history and the revitalization our downtown – First Avenue and area with then and now photos. We would like to give special thanks to Allen McDermid, Ladysmith Archives for research and historic photos and Gerry Beltgens for capturing the downtown as it is today. Want to see more? In Celebration of BC Heritage Week TAKE 5 presents “If these Walls Could Talk”- a virtual tour of Ladysmith’s historic downtown slideshow and talk by writer and history buff Rob Johnson on Wed. Feb. 18, at 6:30 pm at In the Beantime Café. Come out and hear the colorful stories of the buildings, and the people that shaped our community. Afterwards stay and share a memory or two. Free admission.
