Get ready for a summer filled with a shipload of activities, including a concert series that’s sure to get you feet tapping. The lineup is packed with a variety of music that’s bound to please everyone, and my fingers are dancing across the keyboard in anticipation.
Island Folk Festival is celebrating 40 years of staging one of my personal favourite music festivals. People, if you are holding back worries about crowds, don’t be. This is truly a family event located at the heritage Providence Farm, which is also celebrating its 45th anniversary. Make sure you check out the Concert series at Transfer Beach Amphitheatre and Waterwheel Park in Chemainus, as well as the offerings at the local theatres. New for this summer is the “Off the Dock” Open Mic series sponsored by the Ladysmith Maritime Society, every Wednesday evening at the Ladysmith Museum. And you can expect more music at Ladysmith Days coming up in August. Congrats to the organizers and all the volunteers bringing music to us.
There will be music at the annual Cowichan Craft Beer and Food Festival, but it’s the beer that everyone will be talking about. One hundred beers available to taste from the best of our local brewmasters.
See you at the beach!
