The best thing about being with TAKE 5 is meeting the people in our communities.
Their support keeps us going each month, ensuring our community has a local and independent voice. We may not always agree with the views expressed in these pages, but we will secure their right to be there.
Through a lifetime of journalism, I have met many amazing people who have inspired me. This month, I have been privileged to connect with Stz’uminus artist Daniel Elliott, who uses art to empower courage for change.
Elliott also mentors the online group “Culturally Committed” and other programs that help build cultural safety for Indigenous people through education, ceremony and friendship. You can read more about him and his book based on the Truth, Art & Reconciliation, Winds of Change Project.
It’s May, so it’s time for the Ladysmith Rotary Garden Tour. Here, you’ll get many ideas that will send you to your local nursery and plant sales to stock up. Remember to plant something for the pollinators. It’s no-mow-May, so let those dandelions “bee”.
