They say the happiest day in your life is buying and selling a boat. This is true. There is now a new-to-us, 32′ Trojan. It was hard to say goodbye to sailboat Scrappy, but we ensured she was in good hands. This boat marks our first venture into power boats, and once a few “issues” are fixed, we will explore the coastline and share our stories and photos with you. I have said this before, and I will repeat it — if you live here and don’t have a boat, you are missing out. After all, we are situated in the heart of some of the best boating in the world. The southern Gulf Islands are a stone’s throw away. Our large protected harbour offers four marinas, a marine park, and a good anchorage. But you don’t need a big budget to enjoy the waterfront. You can rent a kayak or SUP, visit the Ladysmith Community Marina, try out their rowing boats, or book a harbour tour.
With cooling weather comes the promise of a bountiful harvest. Kate Girard visits some of our local farmers, and Table Talk is back with tasty bites of news from our food producers.
It’s a great time to eat fresh and support your local farms.
